How to get yourname.eth

My step-by-step guide on how to register and set your ENS Domain.
Before we dive in, make sure you are connected to your wallet and have a bit of Ethereum to buy your domain.
If this is unfamiliar, don’t worry! Check out my previous articles here and here to get set up.
Step 1: Go to manager.ens.domains
You can connect your wallet using the “Connect” button in the upper left-hand corner if you haven’t done so already through your browser.
Quick tip — to save time, be sure you’re signed into the wallet that you want to connect to your new ENS domain. This is optional — you can always transfer ownership later.
2. Search for the name you’d like
If the name you want is available, you will see this screen:
Registration Period — you can adjust the registration length using the “-” and “+” buttons. If you want to register for longer you can pay a bit more. Don’t worry if this isn’t something you want to do right now! You can choose to extend your registration another time.
Estimated Total — you can see the estimated cost of your domain and the current gas fee.
3. Request To Register
Hit the “Request To Register” button in the bottom right corner.
A prompt will pop up and ask you to confirm the transaction. Tap “Confirm”
4. Wait a second!
All good things take time — be sure not to close your browser!
What’s happening while I’m waiting?
- After you approve the transaction, it’s submitted on the blockchain, and you’ll wait for it to be confirmed.
- This shouldn’t take too long and you can track your progress by checking the green bar.
- Once the green bar is complete and the transaction is ready to go the “Register” button will go from gray to blue which means it's ready to be registered!
Click the “Register button and you’ll see a prompt to complete the transaction.
After this step is complete, you will see a loading animation in the bottom right corner. “TX Pending” = your transaction is pending. Your ownership will be confirmed on the blockchain shortly!
5. Time to set your name!
Now that you’ve officially purchased your domain name you can set it to your wallet.
Select “Set As Primary ENS Name” which will take you to your account page where you can set your domain.
Use the dropdown to select the ENS domain you want for your wallet and hit save.
You’ll see one more prompt from MetaMask since this is an on-chain action and requires gas.
A quick note — Setting your domain does require gas fees as it is an on-chain action. This means it requires miners to verify and set it on the blockchain that this domain name is associated with your Ethereum wallet.
Yay! Your ENS domain is now set up!
You are now ready to receive cryptocurrency, NFTs, and more from that address!
